SilkAir launches inaugural flight in Kalibo

Aviation Updates Philippines - SilkAir, the regional arm of Singapore Airlines, launched its inaugural flight to Kalibo today. Kalibo will be the gateway of SilkAir to Boracay, and will be SilkAir's 3rd destination in the Philippines after Cebu and Davao.

MI599 departed Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 2 at 10:00am and is scheduled to arrive in Kalibo at 1:45pm, where a special launch ceremony will be held at Kalibo International Airport. The return flight will take off at 3:00pm and is expected to land in Singapore at 8:10 hours (all times local).

SilkAir will operate three weekly flights to Kalibo utilizing its Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft. Flight schedule as follows.

“The launch of these direct flights to Kalibo highlights our commitment to the Philippine market. Passengers were given freebies and an inaugural flight certificate that certifies that they were the first passengers on the Kalibo-Singapore route. The certificates were personally signed by Chief Executive SilkAir, Mr. Leslie Thng, and the flight commander.

SilkAir said Kalibo passengers could connect to Singapore Airlines' destinations. Passengers from Kalibo that are visiting Singapore can experience world-class at Universal Studios Singapore, Marine Life Park, River Safari, the famous Night Safari by the Singapore Zoological Gardens, and Gardens by the Bay.

Weeks ago, SilkAir increased its frequency to Cebu flying 12 times a week, and Davao flying 7 times a week.
