Cathay Dragon to launch Davao flights

Aviation Updates Philippines - Cathay Dragon, a subsidiary of Cathay Pacific Group, will launch direct flights between Hong Kong and Davao City on October 28, 2018. Aside from Davao, the airline will also commence services to Medan on October 29, 2018.

According to a press release from Cathay Pacific, the launch of two new routes within the ASEAN region is part of the airline's expansion to seamlessly connect the two ASEAN key cities. It will provide customers "with more choice and strengthening Hong Kong’s status as Asia’s largest international aviation hub."

Flights to Davao City will be served four times a week while flights to Medan will be served three times a week. Both new services will be operated by its technologically advanced Airbus A320-200 aircraft.
“Davao City and Medan are key trade and tourism centres in their respective regions and each looks set play an important role in the Belt and Road Initiative. As such, both present exciting opportunities for business and leisure travellers alike,” Cathay Pacific Chief Customer and Commercial Officer Paul Loo said.
He added: “Our convenient new services will capture the demand from Hong Kong and beyond, while at the same time providing customers in the Philippines and Indonesia with more options when connecting to the Cathay Pacific Group’s extensive Mainland China and international networks.”
Davao is Cathay Pacific Group's fourth connection to the Philippines which will complement the already existing services in Cebu, Clark, and Manila.
