Preventive measures have already been put into place on all access points in the country as fears continue to monger the public due to the rapid spread of the SARS-like disease which originated from Wuhan, China.

According to Health Undersecretary and Spokesperson Eric Domingo, passengers that show signs of fever and flu are taken into quarantine and are further examined before entry.

The Departmental of Health also said that immigration officials have been required to wear N95 masks to avoid further spread of disease. The newly-emerged virus is capable of transmitting through human to human contact, as confirmed by Chinese officials.

Currently, there is a direct chartered flight to Wuhan from Kalibo operated by Royal Air Philippines. Upon knowing this information, a district representative of Muntinlupa City requested the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) to temporarily suspend flights to the virus's point of origin in the interest of safety.

International airports worldwide have already started screening passengers by checking passengers' temperatures and filling out symptoms checks. The virus has already infected over 300 and killed six from China, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, and the United States.
