"Over the past several years, the need for humanitarian aid has dramatically increased on the back of major natural disasters, conflict or biohazards such as the spread of the Novel Coronavirus. Aviation plays a critical role in the fast and reliable movement of humanitarian assistance such as food and medical supplies, especially when time is of the essence," said Cebu Pacific.

This comes after the Inter-Agency Task Force for COVID-19 and other agencies implemented the enhanced community quarantine over Luzon island. The Philippines has been intensifying its efforts to contain the disease as positive cases skyrocket to more than 5,000.

Cebu Pacific, through Cebgo, has assigned its sole ATR 72-500 aircraft for dedicated freighter operations. ATR pilots from Cebgo have flown the turboprop round-the-clock to deliver various cargo such as live fish, face masks, relief goods, among others, to Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, and General Santos

On the other hand, the low-cost airline has also operated cargo-only missions on-board the Airbus A320-214 fleet on inter-island routes. Aside from that, the airline has been continuously flying on behalf of different embassies for repatriation flights of foreign nationals.

"So far, CEB has operated over 40 cargo flights between Manila, Cebu, General Santos, Cagayan de Oro, Tacloban, Iloilo and Davao using its fleet of Airbus jets and ATR [turboprop] aircraft. It is the only carrier in the Philippines with a dedicated ATR Freighter, capable of carrying as much as seven tons of cargo in one uplift."

Cebu Pacific said it provided airlift support for the humanitarian aid program Angat Buhay of Vice President Leni Robredo. According to the airline, it has also assisted in logistics operations for the Department of Health, the Philippines Red Cross, the Philippine Army, and the TOWNS Foundation.
