PAL lands in Maldives for the first time

Aviation Updates Philippines – To carry out a repatriation mission for stranded Filipino nationals, Philippine Airlines landed at the Velana International Airport in Male, the Maldives for the first time in its 79 years of glamorous history.

In collaboration with the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Philippine Consulate in the Republic of Maldives, a mission to bring home 336 Philippine nationals from the island nation has been carried out.

PAL sent its 368-seat Airbus A330-343 aircraft (with registry RP-C8760) for the repatriation flight. Reposition flight PR-8708 departed for Male at 5:21 am local time from Manila and arrived at 8:59 am local time. The sweeper flight, PR-8709, departed at 11:31 am local time and will arrive in the Philippines Saturday night.

The Filipino community in the Maldives warmly welcomed the arrival of the flag carrier. Proud photos and videos were posted online. Well-wishers also posted their greetings for their countrymen who are currently flying back to the Philippines.





Aside from the flight to the Maldives today, Philippine Airlines is also scheduled to operate a one-time flight to Milan, Italy on Tuesday next week for another round of repatriation flights.

Sana ma open na ang flight from LAX to Phils para makauwi na rin ako to davao city.. i just come here last march 4 to help my daughter to take care of her 9 months old son coz her husband is having an operation.. i suppose to go home last april 18 pero na cancel then book again for this msy 1 then na cancell again.. i really want to go home because i also have my family in davao city.. depressed na ako masyado dito.. I'm a Pilipino iDont belong here.. I want to go home please help me..thankyou so much and God Bless us all

  2. Sana kami din makabalik na sa States from here Davao Del Norte. Supposed to fly back to US last March 19.
