Aviation Updates Philippines – Doha-based Qatar Airways plans to defer, for the second time, its Cebu service resumption to December 2, 2020, due to the instability caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in worldwide airline operations.

According to Routesonline, the thrice-weekly Boeing 787-8 service has been postponed to late-2020 from the originally scheduled inauguration on April 8, 2020. However, flight restrictions in the Philippines because of the state of public health emergency delayed the launch to July 1, 2020.

In a previous report from AUP, Qatar Airways originally planned to inaugurate the service resumption in summer 2020 before the pandemic. The new route was announced during the Kuwait Aviation Show back in January.

The flight scheduled has been adjusted: QR-924 departs Doha at 1:40 am (AST) for a 9 hour and 35-minute flight to Cebu. Arrival is scheduled at 4:15 pm (PST). The return flight, QR-925, departs from Cebu at 6:15 pm (PST) and arrives in Doha at 11:45 pm (AST).

Meanwhile, Qatar Airways' flight operations in the Philippines remain suspended except for its flights to the Philippine capital. As of the moment, the Gulf airline operates once daily Airbus A350-900 XWB service to Manila since April 1, 2020.

On the other hand, its six weekly flights to Clark have been suspended from April 3, 2020, until June 1, 2020. Qatar Airways' once-weekly Doha-Clark-Davao route, besides, will resume on June 5, 2020, after the Davao City government halted international flights from March 19, 2020, onwards.
