Aviation Updates Philippines – South Korea's second largest carrier Asiana announced plans to increase flights to Manila in June as part of a larger effort to recover international travel demand.

In a statement, the airline will resume routes previously suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Asiana will be operating at around 17% capacity – up from its current 8% rate of operation compared to before the majority of flight suspensions.

Starting June 1, the Seoul-based carrier will increase its flights from Seoul-Incheon to Manila from the current three-times weekly schedule to four-times weekly as OZ703/OZ704. However, the airline temporarily suspended its to Manila due to the temporary ban on international arrivals set by the Philippine government last week. According to its flight schedule updates, flights on select dates (May 7, 8, 12, 14) did not operate, and the airline is scheduled to not operate the flights on May 19 and 21.

Flights to Clark and Cebu will remain suspended until June 30. Despite the suspension, Asiana has plans to operate a recovery flight from Cebu to Seoul on May 19 (OZ7103).

Along with the increase in flight frequency to Manila, Asiana will also increase the number of weekly flights to destinations in Southeast Asia such as Ho Chi Minh (three-times weekly to daily) and Phnom Penh (three-times to four-times weekly). It will also re-commence flights to Singapore with a thrice-weekly schedule and select cities in China.

With its sights set for recovery, the airline will see daily flights in June to select cities from Seoul to Beijing, Shanghai, Los Angeles, New York, Tokyo-Narita, Ho Chi Minh, and Hanoi.

In a recent update to its flight operations listing on Asiana's website, the airline will operate flights the following routes/frequencies starting June 1:
