Emirates plans to resume flights to the Philippines, other destinations in July 2020

Aviation Updates Philippines – Dubai-based carrier Emirates intends to resume flights to the Philippines and other destinations by July 2020, more than three months after the airline suspended all of its passenger flights due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Routes Online, Emirates will fly to Manila 18 times a week beginning July 1 using a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. Its triangular Dubai-Cebu-Clark-Dubai service, meanwhile, will be flown four times weekly beginning July 2 with a Boeing 777-300ER. This will be increased to seven weekly flights from July 14 onwards.

While flights to most destinations in Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas are scheduled to resume in July, flights to select cities such as Adelaide, Barcelona, Birmingham, Dakar, Dusseldorf, Edinburgh, Hamburg, Lyon, Mexico City, Nice, and St. Petersburg are scheduled to resume in August or September.

Passengers flying with Emirates can expect a number of safety measures from check-in to touch down, introduced to minimize contact and curb the spread of disease. These new measures were rolled out on May 21, the same day the airline resumed its flights to Chicago, Frankfurt, London-Heathrow, Madrid, Melbourne, Milan, Paris, Sydney, and Toronto.

"We are working with all the stakeholders in Dubai - including the airport, immigration, health and aviation authorities to implement such measures, and we will continue to review and consult expert advice for any development and changes. We are all aware that we have to adapt to different practices during this pandemic in our day to day activities," Emirates Chief Operating Officer Adel Al Redha said in a statement.
