Aviation Updates Philippines – Budget carrier Philippines AirAsia today initially restart operations alongside sweeper flights as the Philippines eases travel restrictions to and from its main hub in Metro Manila.

"The resumption of services will initially be for key domestic routes and will gradually increase to include international destinations by 1 July," AirAsia said.

Per AirAsia's advisory, the company plans to mount several flights out of its Manila, Clark, and Cebu hubs in the coming days. Flights from Manila to Cagayan de Oro will start on June 5; from Manila to Cebu on June 6; and from Clark to Cagayan de Oro on June 7.

Flights from Manila and Clark to Puerto Princesa will begin on June 11. Meanwhile, Davao will gradually have flights next week as the city government remains stringent. The Davao to Cebu route starts on June 11 (Thursdays only); Manila to Davao on June 12 (Fridays only); and Clark to Davao on June 13 (Saturdays only).

All domestic flights will temporarily operate from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 while Terminal 4 remains closed.

According to AirAsia, "the safety and wellbeing of our guests and Allstars [remain] AirAsia’s top priority." In compliance with regulations from the World Health Organization (WHO) and local authorities, the airline said passengers can expect "enhanced safety measures" throughout their journey.

"Guests can expect enhanced safety measures throughout the entire journey, including pre-flight, in-flight, and arrival processes. These include the mandatory wearing of face masks to be permitted to travel, amongst others. Guests are also advised to check and comply with measures implemented by local airport authorities for a smooth travel experience," AirAsia said.
