Emirates now requires negative COVID-19 test for travelers departing from the Philippines, select countries

Aviation Updates Philippines – Dubai-based Emirates is now requiring customers departing from the Philippines and other select countries to have proof of a negative COVID-19 test result prior to taking a flight with the airline effective July 10.

In an update on its website on July 8, the required Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test result should come from a government approved laboratory no later than 96 hours before the flight. For certain countries, Emirates requires the results to be from facilities designated by the United Arab Emirates government.

The new policy will be applicable to customers traveling from the Philippines and the following countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Egypt, India, Iran, Nigeria, Pakistan,  Russia, Sudan, Tanzania, and the United States.

For travelers from the United States, it will apply to customers on flights from Dallas- Fort Worth (DFW), Houston (IAH), Los Angeles (LAX), San Francisco (SFO), Fort Lauderdale (FLL) and Orlando (MCO). Travelers connecting onto an Emirates flight in the following cities will be required to get a test result.

All other travelers not coming from the listed countries will be able to get a PCR test upon arrival in Dubai. However, travelers who take the test upon arrival will be required to self-isolate until reception of the test result.

The new test requirement comes as Emirates has gradually resumed more flights throughout its network, and Dubai has eased entry to the city for foreign arrivals.
